About Abnormally Funky

We are some of the UK’s top session musicians who met whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Our members have performed with many renowned musicians including: Adele, Charlotte Church, Jamie Cullum, Jonny Dankworth and Cleo Laine, Limp Biscuit, Chaka Khan, Ola Onable, Mike Garrick Big Band, The Heritage Orchestra, The London Jazz Orchestra and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Venues

We play an average of 120 venues a year throughout the UK and Europe. Previous venues include Buckingham Palace, The Landsdowne Club, Royal Lancaster Hotel, The Landmark Hotel, The Ritz, and The Mayfair Hotel.

We are equally at home in smaller venues, from pubs and church halls to country estates, theatres and halls. We can also perform in marquees or even outdoors during the summer.

Previous clients

Some of the more well-known people that we’ve played for include the Bank of England, O2, Royal Ascot, the Natural History Museum, the Royal Marines and the Royal Navy.

Jazz combos

We can also help with a selection of jazz ensembles to provide background music at your event when guests arrive, during the wedding ceremony, during drinks or during your meal.

String quartet

Or we can provide you with a string quartet. Our quartet have worked individually and as a group with many of the country’s top orchestras, including The English Chamber Orchestra, The BBC Symphony Orchestra, The City of London Sinfonia and The Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Not only that, they’ve also appeared with some of the top pop acts of our time, including The Beach Boys, Sir Paul McCartney, Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Elton John, Tony Bennett, Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart, Ronan Keating and most notably at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2002.
